Ask Rizen - Lock Poker Edition
May 30, 2009 – 01:05AMI've been getting a lot of questions about Lock Poker so I thought i'd use the 'Ask Rizen' segment this week to address those. I just arrived in Las vegas tonight and I'm playing the $1k tomorrow for those of you that were asking me about that as well!
Q: Does Lock Poker Offer Rakeback?
A: Not to North American players at the moment. If you are outside North America you can get 33% rakeback. There are a lot of promotions in the queue though (that I can't reveal yet as they aren't completely finalized) for North American Players.
Q: I'm a North American Player, if I sign up now and they offer rakeback in the future, am I screwed?
A: No, as I've stated before Lock Poker is about giving back to the players. Anyone who signs up now (or at any point in the future) will be retroactively enabled for any promotions or rakeback opportunities that come up. To paraphrase a quote I received from the Lock Poker CEO, Jennifer Larson, 'Our philosophy is to give as much back to the players as we can, they are our primary investment. We don't do time sensitive promotions and that's not our strategy, we want Lock Poker players to be players for life.' The short version basically is if you sign up now, there is literally zero chance that you will 'miss out' on a better offer later. If Lock Poker offers it, I will be able to get it to you. In the future this will include promotions only available to players who sign up through me.
Q: You say say "This really lets Lock Poker know that the direction they’re taking supporting the players is one we all appreciate and allows us to track that information.", but isnt it really only so u get a piece of our action if we use your link?
A: Worded a bit harsh, but that's a fair question. I obviously can't discuss the details of my partnership with Lock Poker, but I think it's fair to say that I do get something when people sign up. That being said, there are also benefits for you. As I stated above, both Lock Poker and I will make sure that anything that is available to the players is available to you all, and we will make sure we give back as much as possible. I can't stress enough that players are paramount at Lock Poker and that is a huge part of the reason I've partnered with them.
Also, what I said is 100% true. The more support that we get the bigger message that sends that my partnership with Lock is proving beneficial to them and myself. While that is obviously good for me, it is good for you as players though in that it opens up the door potentially for future involvements with other online players, better online promotions for you all, and more commitment to players.
I mean if you think about it, Lock Poker focuses on the player. If they get support for that it will show that an online poker room business model that rewards players for playing on the site, builds loyalty, and provides top notch customer service is not just viable but a way to thrive in the industry. That honestly bodes well for all of us as poker players.
I guess in closing, there really isn't much risk other than the time you put in. If you sign up for Lock Poker and don't like it, there is nothing that will prevent you from playing on another Cake Network site. I'm personally convinced that if you sign up there, experience the personal touches, great customer service, and future promotions they have on the way that Lock Poker is where you will want to play, that's why I attached my name to it. Do I benefit from this? Yes I do. More importantly though I think you all will benefit from it as well.
I will return to the normal Ask Rizen format next Friday, but I received such an overwhelming response regarding Lock Poker I wanted to try and address everything in one post. I hope this clears up most of the questions regarding sign ups I have received thus far. And just as a reminder, if you do want to try Lock Poker (and why wouldn't you?!? :)) then please do so by going to http://www.lockpoker.com/download/rizen
