Super Satellite

I played in a Bay 101 super satellite yesterday. Ended up finishing around 60th out of 140 or so. It was mostly uneventful. The card room here in Bay 101 is super small, so they only accepted 110 players and the rest were alternates. I ended up being alternate #26 and got in almost 2 hrs in. With 30 min levels that meant by the time I sat down I was already short.

I met some people though. Some of them players who recognized me and were online players, a few I'd played with in previous live events. It was cool to get to chat up some of the people I play with online regularly, and it helped kill the time while I was waiting on the alternate list.

I do have to share one guy I ran into though. I'm not sure how to word this without it coming across wrong, so I'll just hope he's not a reader. At these events you run into a fair amount of what I guess I'd call 'poker nuts'. You know, the people decked out completely in WPT or WSOP branded clothing, often with poker related tattoos too. Don't get me wrong, there is NOTHING wrong with wearing a WSOP hat or having a tattoo with cards on it or whatever. When it goes over the top is what this guy was wearing. He had WPT shorts and a shirt on. That alone I didn't think was all that weird. Then I unfortunately realized he was NOT wearing WPT shorts, but he had his WPT shirt tucked inside of his WPT boxers, which was pulling them up high enough you could see the logo.

It was almost something you had to see to believe. I almost tried to discreetly snap a photo with my phone but I didn't want to be too rude if he noticed what I was doing. At the end of the day though I met some really nice people, played some good poker, and had fun. Now I just gotta hope for better results at the main event.
